*Surely you noticed a change in spelling of the word "des" in the affirmative sentence "Je mange des pizzas" to "de" in the negative sentence "Je ne mange pas de pizza". Why the change? Whenever the word "des" follows "ne...pas" it becomes singular again. Why? Who knows?!! That's the rule! One more thing. If the word following "de" in the negative sentence had started with a vowel "de" would have been " d' ". (Aren't rules great?) Memorize what you have just read. You will see more of it in French 2.
